As a Fort Lauderdale photographer, I am lucky to have so many places to choose from to photograph my clients. Though I always suggest shooting in places that are significant to them, sometimes they aren’t aware of the beautiful, and unique, photography ‘hot-spots’ South Florida has to offer.

Miami and Fort Lauderdale offer couples, families, and individuals an abundance of exciting photoshoot locations, which can make it hard to choose just one. Even if you’re still not sure which location is best for you, it’s my job to ensure I capture the emotion and images you are looking for. Don’t be afraid to go with your gut either—photos in your neighborhood, your home, or a favorite book store are always fun.

Whether you are a paying client wanting advice on the perfect photography location, a hobbyist photographer wanting to capture South Florida’s offerings, or a professional photographer looking for new locations to shoot, this blog will come in handy.

vizcaya museum + gardens

I’m excited! I LOVE this location. It is my absolute favorite South Florida photography location. It’s hard not to love it. As a national historic landmark, I particularly enjoy taking engagement photographs at Vizcaya Museum + Gardens. It’s elegant and romantic, and there’s a heap of beautiful backdrops for any photoshoot; fountains, verdant gardens, gazebos, private lawns.

ancient spanish monastery

The Ancient Spanish Monastery is a stunning historical site close to Miami Beach and is the oldest building in the Western Hemisphere. The cloisters within the Monastery are breathtaking in beauty, and add a unique backdrop to any photoshoot that is hard to find in South Florida. As well as the building itself, the Monastery is set amidst a beautiful, tropical garden paradise. One of my favorite places to shoot.

crandon beach park

What’s Miami without the beach, right? One of my favorite beach spots is Crandon Beach Park in Key Biscayne. The North Beach during a weekday afternoon is pretty empty, so perfect for couples or engagement photoshoots where you want a little privacy. The sand is soft, there’s plenty of shade close to the beach, and there’s ample parking, which I was particularly excited about!

wynwood art district

Perfect for the ‘arty’ family or couple looking for something a little edgy. This urban location in the heart of Miami’s design district will appeal to anyone’s creative side. Wynwood is full of color, culture, and creativity and although not ideal if you value your privacy during a photoshoot, it’s a great place to capture a bit of edge to any pictures.

gold coast railway museum

Yes, Miami is known for its picture-perfect beaches, but who doesn’t love a vintage train and the elegance of the 19TH century coaches and rail lines as a unique backdrop to your Miami photos. The Gold Coast Railroad Museum also offers historic brick building, grass fields and a forest for something a little different.

matheson hammock park

This is a crowd favorite for family photography and engagement photoshoots in Miami. Matheson Hammock Park is a cute park near Biscayne Bay. Not only does it boast a lake, lots of green grass and ancient hammock trees, but also a man-made marina with shallow waters and golden sand; perfect for family photography.

f.a.t. village

Are you after a unique headshot or social media images? Are you bored of having family photographs on the beach? Do you want something a little…edgier? If you love Wynwood Walls and Miami’s art district, but after something a little ‘less hectic’ without the photo bombers, then F.A.T. Village in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale is ideal for you!

las olas boulevard

Fashion boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, bars, cute cafes, and pretty side streets make Las Olas Boulevard one of Fort Lauderdale’s prize possessions. With its old-fashioned lamp posts, stunning Mediterranean architecture, and hidden parks, this is the perfect location to capture old-world charm as a Fort Lauderdale photographer.

tree tops park

The 243 acres of this park includes open grassland, a natural lake with peddle boats for hire, woodlands, children’s play areas, picnic shelters, and equestrian trails. Tree Tops Park is the perfect setting for any photoshoot, and with its sheer size, it is possible to find those ‘hidden treasures’ away from prying eyes.

robbins park, davie

This park is just beautiful. I have captured many weddings, engagements, and maternity photograph session at Robbins Park. It has the feeling of the country slap bang in the middle of Davie, with nature at its best. Robbins Park Lodge is ideal for weddings, with its sprawling lawn and ancient hammock trees set in 160 acres; perfect for ceremony settings.

palm beach zoo

If you want something different as your backdrop for any photoshoot, in particular a wedding or engagement session, then Palm Beach Zoo is ideal. Tropical gardens, unique buildings, and of course the wildest of animals. I’d highly recommend this venue to stand out from the crowd!

morikami japanese gardens + museum

Explore the unique well-kept romantic gardens at this unique Palm Beach venue. Perfect for any photoshoot, Morikami Japanese Museum + Gardens offers a variety of lush gardens, historic buildings, wooden brides, and coy-filled waterways.

fort lauderdale beach

You can’t visit Fort Lauderdale and not go to the beach! Fort Lauderdale beach is in the heart of the city’s action. With wooden walkways, soft sand and warm waves, this is the perfect spot for maternity photography, engagement photoshoots, or family portraits.

pompano beach

Centrally located between Palm Beach and Miami, Pompano Beach is a quieter stretch of sand boasting a beautiful sunrise, soft sand dunes and a historic pier. Perfect for couples and maternity sessions.

helpful tips as you prepare for your shoot…

– Check local event listings to be sure that crowded events happening in your location will not conflict with your shoot
– Bring a comfortable pair of shoes if your location requires a lot of walking between photos
– Be prepared with cash for parking meters and/or entrance fees to state parks, as not all accept credit cards.

Be mindful that whilst many of these locations are free to do your photography session, some do require a permit. If you have booked a session with me and are interested in a particular location, I will let you know at the time of booking of any additional costs involved.
