I remember when Reina first inquired with me about my work when she found my Instagram page. Her and her fiancé, Roberto, live in D.C. and were traveling down to Florida for a short vacation; partly to visit Roberto’s Aunt, but also to fulfill Reina’s dream of having her special occasional captured through a lens. She wrote me a lovely message telling me how much she loved my style of photography, and after talking with her on the phone, I knew there and then that I had to photograph them both.
Reina dreamed of having her engagement session at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, Florida. She had seen so many breathtaking images of the location online, and I like to think I convinced her finally to book the venue.
They booked a date and time with me, and flew down from D.C. It was their first ever professional photoshoot and they were both so excited. They were not disappointed with the venue… The look on both their faces when they entered the historic gardens of Vizcaya was adorable! They were blown away at the sheer beauty of the place.
I won’t lie, it was hot. No, it was stinking hot! Reina has bought the most beautiful full-length dress to wear at the start of the shoot and Roberto made such a striking effort with his bow tie and suspenders. I felt so sorry for them having to pose in Florida’s humidity! But we laughed the whole time, and kept cool by fanning ourselves with some cardboard we had found.
It was evident that after 8 years of dating, Roberto knew Reina was the one. I couldn’t be happier for them both.
