Baiyi & Robin’s Cultural Wedding at Jacaranda Country Club
“Andrea, thank you for the wonderful wedding pictures! It was such a pleasure working with you and thank you for your suggestions and ideas leading up to our special day. Thank you again for keeping those wonderful moments for us!“
BaiYi & Robin Campbell
BaiYi and Robin met through work in 2013 in the beautiful Bahamas. Robin was a superintendent for a large resort being built on Nassau, whilst Chinese-born, BaiYi was the interpreter for his team. They hit it off during a company Welcome Dinner not long after they both arrived in paradise.
Working on the island could be tough. It was occasionally lonely, they missed their friends and family, but most of all, they wanted to try and keep their blossoming romance out of the public eye. They wanted to take things steady, see where it took them, but in the end, after dating for 14 months, Robin surprised BaiYi with an engagement ring. The setting was romantic; Robin recreated their first meal, conversation was easy, but BaiYi didn’t expect a proposal that night!
A date and venue was set for the wedding. The beautiful Jacaranda Country Club in Plantation, South Florida, captured BaiYi’s heart for the ceremony and reception. The quaint white pagoda was decked with a beautiful floral arrangement and lanterns adorned the red carpet. Enveloped by palm trees and lakes teaming with wildlife, this was the ‘perfectly romantic’ location for their special day.
One of the things I loved the most about capturing this wedding was the stunning dresses BaiYi chose to wear herself, and for her bridesmaids. Choosing a beautiful, netted white traditional dress for her ceremony was perfect for the setting and location.
For the evening, BaiYi changed into a traditional red Chinese dress and took everyone’s breath away when they both danced their first dance as a married couple. The electric blue traditional Chinese dresses chosen for the bridesmaids were a stunning contrast next to both of BaiYi’s dresses, and Robin’s daughter performed beautifully as the little flower girl, wore a gorgeous, simple dress with a flowing train she loved to dance around in! The evening reception was held in the grand room of the Country Club and was decorated with red roses and simple white linens. However, BaiYi ensured her Chinese heritage was brought to life with cultural trinkets decorating the welcome tables.
The most amazing cake was showcased on a table of its own. Red is a color considered auspicious in China and symbolizes good fortune and joy, so it was no surprise their wedding cake looked like this!
Even though they came from two different countries 7000 miles apart, it proves happiness can be found wherever you are…
