This Fort Lauderdale Beach Proposal That Was Anything But Low-Key
There are beach proposals, and then there are beach proposals that make it very clear someone did not simply stop at the store for flowers on the way over.
Austin had a plan.
He wanted to surprise his girlfriend with a proposal on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, but apparently, a casual walk down the beach and a ring wasn’t quite enough. Instead, he went all in—with a seven-foot-tall heart-shaped floral installation, a glowing “Will You Marry Me” sign, and a dramatic red-carpet-style path leading straight to the big moment adorned with red roses, creating a pretty spectacular setup against the sand and ocean. At the end was the massive heart-shaped floral arrangement, complete with the illuminated question that, thankfully, had a very specific answer waiting for it.
The tricky part of photographing a surprise proposal is always the same: don’t get caught. It sounds easy until you realize you’re trying to photograph a couple on a public beach while pretending you are absolutely, positively not photographing them.
Then Austin brought her toward the setup. And then came the moment every proposal photographer is waiting for—Austin got down on one knee. Cue the emotions.
There were smiles, happy tears, hugs, and that slightly stunned expression that says, “Wait… did this just actually happen?”
Once the secret was officially out, their family joined them including some emotional moments talking to absent friends and family via cell phone video.
It was a romantic without being overly serious surprise proposal on Fort Lauderdale Beach, beautifully over-the-top without crossing into Las Vegas wedding chapel, and most importantly, completely personal to them.
Fort Lauderdale provided the beach, the ocean, and the sunset. Austin provided the seven-foot floral heart, the roses, and the courage to pull off the surprise.
Not a bad day at the beach.
