New York-based couple, Ajay + Monica, began their Indian wedding preparations at their parents’ home. The day started with hair + makeup by the talented Faces By April. Monica had also organized for a mehndi artist to apply this ancient form of body art to her hands and feet. It was amazing to watch. The artist had very steady hands! The designs were incredibly intricate. Monica made sure she even had a bride and groom picture incorporated in her design!

Despite her mehndi still not dry, I grabbed a few private moments with the bride + groom.
The next day was the Pithi ceremony. A pre-wedding ritual organized prior to the wedding ceremony. ‘Haldi’ paste is made by mixing turmeric, sandalwood powder and rose water to form a paste. Family members apply to the hands, feet, arms, legs and face of both bride + groom. It is to protect the couple from any bad omens before their big day.
That evening the bride + groom, friends and family had a wedding rehearsal dinner at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel. Sokha Im from Apsara Events did a beautiful job of setting up the room. Guests enjoyed a traditional Indian fare and were entertained by a traditional Indian dancer.
